The drive to work on November 4th was an amazing one. I found myself having a difficult time focusing on the road for the sky was filled with large pillars of light reaching from the ground all the way up to the sky. The pillars were different in size and color and one of the most beautiful things I have seen. At this point my goal turned to finding a spot to capture a good photo of them and not so much on getting to work, I am always early getting to work anyway. Luckily I was able to converge both goals and shoot this shot from behind work. The ice pillars happen when there are ice crystals floating in the air and get above light sources. So the varying color and size are all determined by the lights on the ground.
